Dirty Mummy Nails

Halloween is coming soon and every nail artists are searching for Halloween nails ideas. This cute little mummies are not my original idea. Not knowing who first started it, I can't credit anyone.

Some people use Konad stamp for mummy nails, but I thought it will be too stiff for a cute little mummies. Personally I really like these little guys. They are very cute and a lot of people has been complimenting them. Even my mom likes them! :D

I used OPI Alpine Snow as the white base. Followed by sponging using OPI Strangers Tide and Sinful Colors Nirvana to make it look dirty and muddy. For the black lines I used LA Colors Nail Art in Black. The striper is indeed thick, that's why the lines on the mummy are thick. You can use simple long nail art brush, but it's a hassle.

Enjoying Life

Hi everyone! Meet Looby.. He is my childhood teddy bear.

Anyway, I am very sorry that I haven't been blogging and uploading videos for awhile. It has been busy (oh come on, lame reason!). I have been out a lot and afterwards I just got too tired to do any blogging or vlogging. I have been thinking a lot about this though. I want to do vlog on my YouTube channel. But I'm not interesting enough.. :( And seeing my face on a video is just too awkward!

With this new laptop I got, I have been trying to get used to it, editing video without iMovie, new Photoshop without all the saving settings and action i made before, everything just made me feel awkward to edit the videos and pictures i took. I actually have a lot of pictures taken while I am not blogging. But I haven't edit it to make it 'bootifhul' enough for my blog.

Well, I hope I can manage to follow up my blog as soon as possible. Cause I miss spreading polish love out there. And as with my YouTube channel, I am not sure when I will be posting new nail art tutorial. Maybe a vlog soon, but who knows! Keep watching!

P.s. My dad has been a big influence to why I haven't been updating for awhile. As for this moment TOO, he is nagging for me to help him on his new laptop. Bleh! Can't I have 10 minutes of myself please, dad?!

Anyway, tutah! Hihi! ♥

Birthday Mani and Update

Hi everyone! As some of you might know, yesterday, 20 Sept, was my birthday! I had a birthday dinner with my family on the 18th because my dad have to go to Malaysia on the 20th. Shucks :(. But anyway, I had a great time! I also got a birthday card from Sara! And an amazing (and also heavy) package from Maria! I will be posting a blog entry about the nail mail / presents from Maria in the future. For now, just enjoy this video of me unwrapping and gasping and squealing...

I know I haven't been updating my so called daily blog, but I have been busy lately, and I hope you understand. Today, I fell sick, and have been spending the day in my bed. Fever, sluggish, headache.. Just everything in one. Why do I get sick after my birthday? Who knows?

OPI Suzi Skis in Pyreness, CG Wireless Holo Top Coat, Nicole One Less Lonely Glitter, Nubar Nail Art Silver Glitter

Anyway, a day before the birthday dinner, I went to our secret nail group and posted that I need an idea for a birthday mani. Something with CG Wireless and gray / purple themed. A lot of you guys wrote amazing ideas to me, and also Maria is so amazing that she even recorded a video of the idea she came up with. But the next day, my mom was rushing me and told me to hurry cause we need to go out and stuff.. So I came up with something quick and simple, which is the picture above. How do you like it? Friends been telling me that they like it, but I was not happy with it. Why? It was hella chunky on the tip cause of the glitters. The next day it chipped and I got mad and peeled it. Then my Chihuahua, Queen, bit me on my thumb, and made a hole on the polish. Lucky it didn't got my nailbed. But yea, that mani lasted 2 days.

I saw that my nails getting yellow-er.. So I trimmed down my nails again.. shorter. My dad told me that I should just cut it all off, well I thought about it, but my nail bed is oval, so if I cut it all off, it will take ages to make a square tip nails again.

Oh! Another thing! My dad has been owing me a new laptop since last year, and apparently he felt bad and got me a brand new laptop for my birthday (THANKS DADDY I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!). It is the Asus G74SX. It is super heavy, 5kgs / 10pounds. But the design is super sleek and omg amazing. The spec is amazing high, and review shows that this laptop is one of the best laptop out there. I agree that I am a gamer, and I need the spec to edit videos too. So this laptop is super perfect! (Don't worry my MacBookPro, I won't abandon you, I'll just erase your memory (reformat) and make you useful, somehow...

Thank you everyone of you who wished me happy birthday. I couldn't thank enough!

xoxo

Zoya Mod Matte in Gloss!

This post is requested by my silly friend, Karly from NailBehavior. She wanted to know how the Zoya Mod Matte polish looks like with a glossy top coat on. Lolly and Mitzi are of course turns out cream colour, but Phoebe with top coat makes 'her' shimmer glows. They are very pretty both matte and glossy. I super love them so much. And what's best is that their colours are very contrast and bright, not something we found on normal polish. Picture tells a thousand words. :D

If you want to see the 'bright colour contrast' I was telling you about, please click the image and save them to your desktop. View it from your desktop for best image result.

Excuse the messy application, I was in a hurry cause I was going out with my parents and I had to take the picture today, before the sun is out.

Zoya Mod Matte

I was so stoked when I saw Zoya Mod Matte. It came in these 3 colours, Lolly (pink), Mitzi (green), and Phoebe (blue). At that time I was so amazed at matte finish polish so I just bought it without any thinking. Glad I did, I am super happy with the colours, especially Mitzi. I never seen such a beautiful green before! I thought Phoebe would be a cream matte like others but it turns out to have a micro shimmer finish. Even though blue has been my all time favourite colour, Phoebe didn't win my heart. Application was hell when I had long nails. Why? Because Zoya's brush is not big. I didn't know it because these 3 polish were my first Zoya so when I got it, I was pretty disappointed. The brush would just runs out of polish in the middle of my nail in one stroke. Layering the polish makes it looks gooey and ugly, especially with matte polish, they dry quickly, so every layer and stroke you add is really visible. But if you have cute short nails, this is perfect. Adding a glossy top coat makes them looks amazing too! So its really a win win.

China Glaze Skyscrapper & CG In The City

The newest collection from China Glaze offers a lot of city or 'metro' colours, just like the name 'Metro Collection'. The collection offers a range of colours from dark red to to concrete colour. Fans out there were going crazy about this collection, but I don't really feel that hype at all. In fact, I had a hard time deciding which colour I need to get from this collection. My eyes went straight to the glitter polish, and I decided that I need to get CG In The City and Skyscrapper. I don't think I need to review anything like application for China Glaze, as you know, it is amazing.

CG In The City is a very unique colour, clear base, fine glitters in lilac, dark purple (black?) and a little bit of orange. It gives out a dirty city look. It is very pretty and very unique. I can say this colour is my favourite from the collection.

Skyscrapper has a blurple (blue purple) jelly base with blue and silver glitters in it. It looks very gorgeous and reminds me of starry sky above the city. Actually, it reminds me more to Van Gogh's Starry Night painting..

NOTD: Nude Glitters

This has been on my nails for 3 days already. It is 3 coats of OPI Mr. & Mrs. Mimosas and 1 coat of Deborah Lippmann Glitters In The Air. Glitters In The Air is one of the two Deborah Lippmann nail polish I have, and it is my favourite from all Deborah Lippmann's polish. Maybe because I love baby blue and baby pink, maybe cause it has the blue-ish milky base, maybe cause of the name. But I love it. Even though I said that, I totally hate how sheer the polish is. I can almost say that I hate wearing it without another colour as a base. My nail tips shows really clearly and it really uglified the whole thing. So here I have Mr. & Mrs. Mimosas as base coat to hide that ugliness.

Mr. & Mrs. Mimosas is not my favourite nude colour at all. It is very hard to apply on my finger, I don't know if it is because of the formula or is it me, but i keep getting bald spots! 2 coats usually are opaque already but I had to do 3 coats on this particular mani. Don't know why I did that, but i think it was because of some bald spots, just in case.

Overall, I really like this mani. It makes my hand looks more feminine. I don't usually wear nudes or light colour since there was some people who said it doesn't suit my hand. And well I do feel awkward with it. But this mani makes it a whole different experience! I LOVE IT! it's super cute!

Water Marbling Technique Attempt

Last night i recorded a video for my water marbling technique attempt. A lot of people has been hyped about this technique. And it is a relatively hard technique to be able to be good at. A long time ago I actually tried it for the first time on two nails and I did quite nicely. But it was only two nails! So this time I thought why not make a video on my attempt. I made this attempt along with my Lucky Dip #1 on the last post.

Lucky Dip #1 - Water Marbling

Hi guys! This is my first 'Lucky Dip'! What's a Lucky Dip you ask? Well, it's just a challenge I made for myself by dipping my hand into all my polish stash and pick some colours, and whatever colours I get, I have to do a nailart attempt with those colours.

So this time, I got Essie Mint Candy Apple, OPI Mod-ern Girl, CG Happy Go Lucky. What an odd colour combination, I thought. Today I recorded a video for water marbling attempt, so i thought why not make these colours into water marble nailart too. I went for it and I got quite pretty result! It kinda reminds me of retro dress though.. Don't you think so? It does look RETRO isn't it?

Yea... I totally ruined my index finger.. Just after I put top coat on, my other finger bumped into it.. ;__;

OPI: Dating a Royal

After I cut my nails short, I had no idea on what to do with my nails, so I went for a plain one colour look. From hundreds of polish, I choose OPI Dating a Royal. I always think this blue is super pretty. It is not dark and not light. It's beautiful. Application was nice, as you guys might know, OPI tends to have runny but opaque formula. Over all, I am pretty happy with it.

How do you like 'em?

*Sorry for dull and dirty nails on the image, I took the pic on day 3 after I apply it on my nails, so I had some scratches and dull spot on the nails.*

Teal Toes to Support Ovarian Cancer Awareness

A few days ago my friend asked me if I am going to put up a picture of my Teal Toes to support Ovarian Cancer Awareness. I was super confused because but I don't have exact teal colour. The only two close teal colour I have is Rimmel Sky High and OPI Ski Teal We Drop. Rimmel Sky High is more to turquoise, but I really love the colour, and it looks teal-ish under dimmed light. OPI Ski Teal We Drop is too dark, and the last time i paint it on my toes, it turns out gooey and ugly.

So I choose Rimmel Sky High for my Teal Toes colour! How do you like the colour? It is my favourite colour from my Rimmel collection. And it is one of my earlier collection from back in middle school ^^

What's your Teal Toes looks like?

First Post! ♥

Hi Welcome to my blog!

My name is Irene. Currently 21.. (22 in 16 days!) I am from Jakarta, Indonesia. I used to live in Sydney, Australia for over 8 years. I know, not much, but it really influence me and my english. I graduated last year as a graphic design student.

My obsession of nail polish started years ago, when i was still in middle school. Back then, I had little money to spend on nail polish. So I only get one or two once in a while.. At the end of my high school year, I had around a dozen or more bottles. I've been noticing my love for polish for awhile, but i keep ignoring it because it costs a lot, and my parents would scold me! But as soon as I graduated college, I went berserk for polishes. I start on selling some OPI polishes to gain some cash. But I ended up spending a lot more to buy for myself. I started with one OPI.. which became two.. then.. it just grows.. Like rodents.. o_o;; And yes, my parents also went berserk, cause I've been 'wasting' my money for polish...
